How to Tie a Tie
With a basic necktie, you want it to be at your waist when you are done tying it. See what best fits with your height.
- Place the wide end of the tie on your left and narrow side on your right.
- Cross the wider end over by putting it around the back side and around again.
- Then you’ll put the end up through the neck, once you put it up through the neck, then you’ll want to make sure it’s flat around your neck.
- Then you’ll shove or poke the end through the knot.
- One side will tighten the knot, you don’t want it too tight! The other side will be the adjustment for the neck. Bonus: place a dimple right below the neck. You don’t want the back of tie longer than the front, unless you are wearing a vest then it doesn’t matter.
- Once you are done, make sure the tie is covering the first button of the shirt.
